Choppy & Bushman

Choppy the miniature dachshund and his best friend Bushman, the golden retriever, are emigrating to South Africa with their human family to start a new life.

They have the concluding part of their Pet Travel Appointment today with Alun Edwards, one of the few people in the area who can issue the Export Health Certificate needed for emigration.

If you are thinking of travelling or emigrating with your pet, you will need to get their passport and paperwork sorted well in advance of booking your travel.

Alun gave both dogs a full clinical examination and a clean bill of health. Well almost, Bushman’s ears needed a good clean before they could be on their way. Alun also checks to ensure they are both microchipped.

Bushman’s owner tells us that earlier in the week, they ran a half marathon together. Choppy wanted to run the marathon too but as he regularly runs about eleven miles, he felt he was fit enough!

Alun Edwards BVSc (Hons) MRCVS, in this instance, acts as an agent for AHPA – Animal Health & Plant Agency – and is one of the few people in the area who can issue the Export Health Certificate needed for emigration. We also have two other members of our team who can issue these certificates.

So that’s it, Choppy and Bushman have everything they need to start a new life in South Africa. We will really miss the cheeky duo and wish them and their owners a fond farewell from everyone at Clent Hills Vets.
