Medication & Prescriptions

Information about ordering your pet's repeat prescriptions

If your pet has regular repeat medications, you can order them using our Click & Collect service. This includes regular flea & worming treatments.

From Monday 10th May, our medication ordering service is changing. We're reducing our carbon footprint significantly and will be having 2 deliveries a week instead of daily - this will save thousands of carbon miles per year!

This does mean that we'll need a bit more time to fulfil some orders of repeat meds and foods. Some items we keep in stock and will normally be able to offer a 1-2 day turnaround. Where we need to order goods in, we may need a little longer. Our delivery days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, and our team will let you know when your order is ready to be collected.

If you know your pet is due to run out of a repeat medication or food soon, give us a shout and we can help you plan ahead.

How can I get flea & worm treatments for my pet?

Using our Click & Collect service, you can re-order your pet’s flea & worm treatments. Please let us know when ordering, if your pet’s weight has changed much since they were last weighed at our practice. Moving between different weight brackets will affect the treatment dose your pet will need.

If your pet is having any health problems, please book a check-up with one of our vets. If it’s been some time since your pet was last seen by a vet, our team may need to do a Meds Check (examination) before the flea & worm products can be dispensed

Do I need to order flea & worm treatments if I’m a TLC Pet Club member?

TLC Pet Club members don’t need to pay for standard flea & worm products as they’re included in their monthly package – see all TLC benefits.

However, members will still need to order these products – Click & Collect.

How do I get medication for my pet?

Most prescription medications are dispensed during consultations and after examinations by one of our veterinary surgeons. Medicines prices are available on request.

Our veterinary surgeons may prescribe prescription-only medications for animals under their care. A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.

If the Vet advises that your pet needs to continue on the same medication for a short period or long term, this will be dispensed as a repeat prescription.

Does a Vet need to see my pet for repeat prescriptions?

Current legislation requires us to carry out regular re-examinations to confirm the usefulness of the medication, the accuracy of the dosage, and the absence of significant side effects.

Most long-term conditions will require a veterinary re-examination at no more than 3-month intervals subject to the judgment of the clinician in charge of the case. This is to ensure your pet is receiving the right ongoing medication and care for their condition.

The standard charge for a re-examination is £39.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, some medications may be dispensed without a physical exam or re-examination. This can be discussed during a telemedicine appointment with a Vet.

How long will my pet be on medication for?

Every case is different depending on the animal, the condition, and the medication prescribed.

If you have any concerns about your pet’s health, please contact our team for advice.

Can you give me a written prescription?

Prescriptions are available from any of our three practices. You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines - Veterinary (POM-Vs) from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or pharmacy.

Written prescriptions are charged at £23.00 for the first prescription and £17.00 for repeat prescriptions thereafter.

How can I pay for medication and flea & worm products ordered online?

We can take payment on collection at any of our three vet practices, or you can pay online.

Please request the amount to be paid for your products from our team.

For home deliveries (only available on certain medications and parasite products) we require a confirmation of payment before the items can be dispatched.
