May is National Chip Your Pet Month for a good reason. Millions of animals sit in shelters for days or longer, many of which are people’s lost pets. Unclaimed pets can be rehomed, or worse…
By paying just £10 at Clent Hills Vets and having a tiny microchip implanted under your pet’s skin, you can give your pet the best chance of being reunited with you if they go missing.
Microchipping is a simple procedure and can be done in minutes by a vet or nurse. The microchip is designed to last for life, but it’s important to get it checked (scanned by a veterinary professional) periodically to confirm it’s working correctly. Read more about the benefits of microchipped.
Dog microchipping is a legal requirement in England and along with some animal charities, we believe cat microchipping should be too. We see lots of cats brought into our surgeries with no microchip and in many cases, it’s impossible to reunite them with their owner.

Up to date owner information is vital
Getting your pet microchipped doesn’t stop there. If your pet is microchipped but the Petlog Microchip Database has your old contact details, it’s almost as hopeless as not having them microchipped at all. If you move house or change a telephone number, make sure you change it on Petlog too.
