The laser stimulates the cells, making them work harder, producing more energy and increasing blood flow. This stimulation releases chemicals called endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, which are pumped out by the brain during times of pain and stress. The low-energy beams of light emitted by the laser machine are strong enough to stimulate the pressure points, but not strong enough to burn or damage the skin.
Laser therapy is a non-invasive, safe method used to treat acute and chronic injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains, swelling due to back disc problems and musculoskeletal abnormalities. It can also help to regenerate nerve tissue after surgery.
You are invited to join your pet for their laser therapy session as this can help them to relax. Your pet will be placed on a comfortable mat so that their treatment can begin. The nurse will use the laser wand to administer treatment to the affected areas and gently help the animal into the required positions, although we find with regular patients they tend to remember the routine and enjoy it.
No. Laser therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment that does not require your pet to be sedated. This means that no shaving of the affected areas is required and treatment can be carried out several times a day or week if necessary.
If your pet is being treated for arthritis or an injury they should feel relieved from pain after each laser therapy treatment, how long for depends on your pet and the severity of their condition. You may find that your pet is willing to walk up stairs or pick up toys when they haven’t for some time. Overall, your pet should feel brighter after laser therapy as their pain should have subsided.
This all depends on your pet and how they respond to treatment. With arthritis, animals usually require treatment 2 -3 times per week to begin with and then this can be reduced over time.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm whether they cover arthritis and laser therapy as a treatment.

Clent Hills Vets, the best of Bromsgrove, we think so !!. Easy to find, free parking, great staff and great value for money, we wouldn’t go anywhere else.Leah T, Best of Bromsgrove
A great big “Thank You” to everyone at Clent Hills who has taken care of Sebastien over the past 5 days! It’s been a really upsetting time but he seems totally unfazed by the whole experience! Hopefully he won’t be eating any more Night Nurse capsules….Theagh Bytheway, Facebook

They are always able to turn a disaster into a triumph and just when your world seems hopeless they save the day with their wonderful staff, caring attitude and relaxed surroundings. Thank you for “being there”.Jade S, Best of Bromsgrove
I’d just like to say a big thank you to Clent Hills on how well they handled the recent euthanasia of my 18 year old Cat and then two months later of my twelve and a half year old Staffie. I was a blubbering wreck on both occasions and from the time I went in to the time I returned to pick up their ashes, everyone was so helpful. It’s not a pleasant thing to have to do but I can honestly say having used Rod and his team now for nearly twenty years, I rate them very highly and thank them for looking after my pets through their full and fun lives.Mark Young, Facebook
