The laser stimulates the cells, making them work harder, producing more energy and increasing blood flow. This stimulation releases chemicals called endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, which are pumped out by the brain during times of pain and stress. The low-energy beams of light emitted by the laser machine are strong enough to stimulate the pressure points, but not strong enough to burn or damage the skin.
Laser therapy is a non-invasive, safe method used to treat acute and chronic injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains, swelling due to back disc problems and musculoskeletal abnormalities. It can also help to regenerate nerve tissue after surgery.
You are invited to join your pet for their laser therapy session as this can help them to relax. Your pet will be placed on a comfortable mat so that their treatment can begin. The nurse will use the laser wand to administer treatment to the affected areas and gently help the animal into the required positions, although we find with regular patients they tend to remember the routine and enjoy it.
No. Laser therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment that does not require your pet to be sedated. This means that no shaving of the affected areas is required and treatment can be carried out several times a day or week if necessary.
If your pet is being treated for arthritis or an injury they should feel relieved from pain after each laser therapy treatment, how long for depends on your pet and the severity of their condition. You may find that your pet is willing to walk up stairs or pick up toys when they haven’t for some time. Overall, your pet should feel brighter after laser therapy as their pain should have subsided.
This all depends on your pet and how they respond to treatment. With arthritis, animals usually require treatment 2 -3 times per week to begin with and then this can be reduced over time.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm whether they cover arthritis and laser therapy as a treatment.
Well where do i start! This time 2 weeks ago we were prepared to say goodnight to our very special Boy Buddy who was extremely poorly but with the love and dedication of Alan Barbara and girls he is almost back to his old self. I can not thank the team enough, it is their compassion that stands out, the girls on reception all make a fuse of him the nurses pop out to see him whilst waiting for Alan or Barbara. They are without a doubt Alan and his Angels 🙂 xxxCarol Wilde, Facebook
Absolutely brilliant place. Rarely take my cat to the vets unless he is really unwell as from previous experience I have a major distrust of their motives! Have been to Clent vets for the first time today with a poorly boy and it is totally different. Lovely place, we weren’t insured and you don’t feel like they’re playing on your love of your pet to bleed you dry! Would highly recommend.Esther Burgoyne, Google
