We’re thrilled and extremely thankful to our clients and their pets, to be celebrating our 20 year anniversary this month. It’s a huge achievement and it’s been a real team effort.
Our veterinary surgeons, nurses and support staff, have given so much of their time and hearts into caring for animals over the years, we want to thank them too for their everlasting dedication and compassion. Here are just some of our team:
To celebrate, we’re holding a series of events, competitions and offers during the month of September. For example, you could win an Amazon Fire Tablet by entering a photo in our Pet Selfie competition! We’ll be emailing our clients with more details and sharing our activities on Facebook.
A little bit of history…
Our head vets, Rod Stroud and Alun Edwards, first opened the doors to Clent Hills Vets back in 1996. Here’s how their story began…
Rod Stroud emigrated to the UK from South Africa in April 1989, having spent his previous years as a locum and training as a vet student. Rod qualified with a BSC in Zoology and Ecology, and got to practice veterinary medicine on mainly ostriches, sheep, horses, goats and cattle.
In the early 90’s, Rod joined a long-established, independent veterinary practice in Bromsgrove called The Overtons, which is where he met Alun who was working there as a locum.
Alun Edwards qualified from Liverpool Vet School in July 1986 with BVSc honours, and worked for The Overtons for around 6 years in total, with a short break working for drug company Pfizer Animal Health.
In early 1996, Rod took ownership of another well-established, independent practice in Hagley, quickly followed by a buyout of The Overtons. Alun became a partner and the new joint venture was born.
In late summer 1996, Rod and Alun opened the doors to Clent Hills Veterinary Group, a name chosen by a staff member in a competition, as the scenic Clent Hills lie between the two practices.
Rebekka becomes a partner
Rebekka Fiorani joined Clent Hills Veterinary Group in 1996 as a kennel hand, working after school and on Saturdays. Having fallen in love with the place, Rebekka worked her way up to a reception role, followed by branch manager and then practice manager for the group. In 2004, Rod and Alun asked Rebekka to become a partner in the business.
Clent Hills Vets today
Our facilities have seen many changes over the years, with the move to a brand new, purpose-built surgery in Bromsgrove in March 2013, and most recently the renovations that are underway at our Hagley branch.
Our team continues to expand in size and knowledge, meaning we’re able to continually advance in the level of medical care we can provide. Read about some of the specialist surgical procedures our vets and nurses are currently performing on animals to improve their quality of life.
